Description
A rich, creamy, and healthy vegan chocolate mousse made with just five simple ingredients. This dairy-free dessert uses ripe avocados for a silky texture and is packed with healthy fats and fiber.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 medium ripe avocados (about 1 cup flesh)
- 1/3 cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3–4 tablespoons (45-60ml) pure maple syrup
- 2–3 tablespoons (30-45ml) unsweetened almond milk
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
Instructions
- Wash avocados, cut in half, remove pits, and scoop the flesh into a high-speed blender or food processor.
- Add cocoa powder, maple syrup, almond milk, vanilla extract, and salt to the blender.
- Blend on high for 2-3 minutes until the mixture is completely smooth, glossy, and free of green flecks. Scrape down sides halfway through if needed.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or salt if necessary.
- Transfer to serving dishes or a bowl, cover tightly with plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (ideally 2 hours) to chill and thicken.
- Serve cold, topped with sea salt flakes, coconut whipped cream, or fresh berries.
Notes
Ensure avocados are very ripe for the best texture and sweetness. Blend longer than you think to avoid graininess. Chill thoroughly for a thicker, mousse-like consistency. Do not freeze as texture will become grainy. If using frozen avocado, thaw completely before blending.
