Description
A refreshing, vibrant pink sangria made with watermelon, fresh mint, lime, and dry white wine. This easy party drink requires minimal prep time and is naturally gluten-free.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups cubed seedless watermelon
- 1 large bunch fresh mint (about 1 cup packed)
- 2 medium limes (juice and zest)
- 1 bottle (750ml) dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio)
- 1–2 bottles sparkling water or lemon-lime soda
- 1/2 cup vodka or gin (optional)
- Ice
Instructions
- Wash the watermelon, remove the rind, and cut the flesh into bite-sized cubes (golf ball size). Place about 4 cups of cubes into a large pitcher.
- Wash and pat dry the mint. Roughly chop or tear the leaves to release oils. Cut limes in half, squeeze the juice into the pitcher, and add the zest.
- Pour the bottle of white wine over the fruit and mint. Stir gently to coat the fruit.
- Refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- Right before serving, add sparkling water or soda. Stir gently and adjust sweetness with more soda or lime juice if needed.
- Fill glasses with ice, pour the sangria over the ice, ensuring each glass gets watermelon and mint. Serve immediately.
Notes
Chill the wine, pitcher, and glasses beforehand. Do not over-muddle the mint as it can turn bitter. The fruit mixture can be made up to 24 hours in advance, but add soda only right before serving to keep it fizzy. If making ahead, keep fruit separate to prevent sogginess, or accept softer fruit texture.
