Description
A thick, creamy, and indulgent 5-minute smoothie that tastes like a dessert but provides high protein and fiber to keep you full until lunch. Perfect for busy mornings or post-workout recovery.
Ingredients
- 1 scoop (30g) chocolate whey or casein protein powder
- 2 tablespoons (32g) creamy peanut butter
- 1 medium banana, peeled, broken in half, and frozen
- ¼ cup (20g) old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup (240ml) milk (whole milk, oat milk, or almond milk)
- 1 tablespoon (5g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup ice (optional, if banana isn’t frozen enough)
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- 1 tablespoon dark chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Prep bananas by peeling, breaking in half, and freezing for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Add wet ingredients to the blender first: milk, peanut butter, vanilla extract, and optional chia seeds or cinnamon.
- Add dry ingredients next: oats, protein powder, and cocoa powder.
- Toss in the frozen banana chunks.
- Blend on low speed for 10 seconds to break up ingredients, then gradually increase to high speed.
- Blend for 45-60 seconds until completely smooth and creamy.
- Taste and adjust consistency by adding more milk (if too thick) or more frozen banana/ice (if too thin). Add a pinch of salt to enhance flavor.
- Serve immediately for best texture.
Notes
Frozen bananas are crucial for a thick, creamy texture without watering down the shake with ice. If using a weak blender, soak oats in milk for 5 minutes before blending to prevent grittiness. A pinch of salt enhances the chocolate and peanut flavors. The shake is best consumed immediately but can be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours; shake well before drinking.
