Football Tailgate Buffalo Chicken Dip: 5-Ingredient Game Day Win

  • Author: Karina
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

A creamy, spicy, and addictive 5-ingredient Buffalo chicken dip that is perfect for tailgating, parties, or game day. It comes together in under 15 minutes and stays warm in a slow cooker.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (225g) full-fat block cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup (120ml) buffalo wing sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 2 cups (250g) shredded chicken (rotisserie or cooked)
  • ½ cup (120ml) ranch dressing
  • 1 cup (100g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 stalk celery, diced (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (optional)
  • Celery salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Shred the cooked chicken into bite-sized pieces if using rotisserie chicken.
  2. Break the softened cream cheese into small cubes to help it melt evenly.
  3. In a slow cooker or large skillet, combine the cream cheese, buffalo sauce, and ranch dressing. Stir vigorously until smooth and uniform.
  4. Stir in the shredded chicken and half of the cheddar cheese until the chicken is coated.
  5. If using a slow cooker, heat on LOW for 10-15 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until hot and bubbly. Do not boil.
  6. If using a skillet, cook over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, for 5-7 minutes until cheese is melted and chicken is heated through.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top and let sit for a minute to melt.
  8. Garnish with diced celery and green onions if desired. Serve immediately with celery sticks, carrot sticks, tortilla chips, or crusty bread.

Notes

Ensure cream cheese is softened to avoid lumps. For a spicy kick, add diced jalapeños. For a low-carb option, serve with celery or cucumber instead of chips. This dip does not freeze well due to the dairy content; store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days. If the dip separates, whisk in a splash of cold cream cheese or milk to fix it.
