  • Author: Karina
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 9 servings 1x

Description

A quick and easy 15-minute dessert featuring a buttery graham cracker crust, tart Granny Smith apples, and a sweet cinnamon crumble topping. Perfect for busy weeknights and pantry-friendly ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (200g) graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (100g) packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for juicy apples)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9 inch baking pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Crush graham crackers into fine crumbs using a rolling pin in a Ziplock bag or a food processor. Place crumbs in a mixing bowl.
  3. Add melted butter, granulated sugar, flour, brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt to the crumbs. Mix until it resembles wet sand.
  4. Press two-thirds of the crumb mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust. Bake for 10 minutes to set.
  5. While the crust bakes, toss chopped apples with lemon juice, remaining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and cornstarch (if using).
  6. Remove pan from oven. Spread apples evenly over the hot crust. Sprinkle the remaining one-third of the crumb mixture over the apples.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the topping is golden brown and apples are tender.
  8. Cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

Use tart apples like Granny Smith to prevent mushiness. Press the crust firmly to ensure bars hold together. Cool completely for clean cuts. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the fridge for up to a week. Can be frozen for up to 2 months.
