Extra-Crispy Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts: 15-Min Weeknight Side

  • Author: Karina
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

These extra-crispy air fryer Brussels sprouts are caramelized, crunchy, and delicious. A fast, reliable side dish that transforms a vegetable many dislike into a family favorite using simple pantry staples.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds Brussels sprouts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze (optional)
  • 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Trim the bottom stem off each sprout and peel off any loose or yellow outer leaves. Cut each sprout in half lengthwise.
  2. Rinse the halved sprouts under cold water, then pat them completely dry with paper towels to ensure crispiness.
  3. Place the dried sprouts in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Toss until every piece is coated.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for 3 minutes if recommended by the manufacturer.
  5. Spread the sprouts in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
  6. Cook for 10 minutes at 380°F (190°C). At the 5-minute mark, pull the basket out and shake vigorously to turn the sprouts.
  7. Check for doneness at 10 minutes; they should be tender inside with crispy, browned edges. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes if needed.
  8. If using balsamic glaze, drizzle over hot sprouts immediately after cooking and toss gently. If using Parmesan, add it in the last 2 minutes of cooking.

Notes

Drying the sprouts thoroughly is the most important step for achieving crispiness. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary. For frozen sprouts, cook at 400°F for 12-15 minutes. Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes to restore crispiness.
