Cheesy Garlic Pull-Apart Bread: Best Homemade Recipe

  • Author: Karina
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

A homemade cheesy garlic pull-apart bread that is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and packed with garlicky herb butter and melted cheese. It’s an easy, crowd-pleasing side dish or appetizer that requires zero kneading.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large French baguette or Italian loaf (about 24 inches)
  • 1 stick (113g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 45 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 13×9 inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place the baguette on a cutting board. Slice horizontally almost all the way through to create a top and bottom half, then slice vertically every 1 inch without cutting all the way through to create a connected grid.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, red pepper flakes, and salt until a smooth paste forms.
  4. Spread the herb butter mixture into every cut and crevice of the bread.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheese mixture evenly over the top and into the cuts.
  6. Wrap the entire loaf tightly in aluminum foil and place on the baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes. Carefully unwrap the foil.
  8. Bake for another 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden brown.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Shred your own cheese for better melting. If using pre-shredded cheese, note that anti-caking agents may affect texture. For leftovers, reheat in the oven at 350°F for 10 minutes to restore crispiness. Can be prepped and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking.
