Description
A quick and easy 5pm dinner solution featuring buttery croissants filled with deli ham and sharp cheddar cheese, baked until golden and bubbly.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (6-8 count) frozen plain croissants, slightly thawed
- 8 ounces deli ham, sliced
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon everything bagel seasoning
- Optional: Caramelized onions, Dijon mustard, pickle chips, Swiss cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice each croissant in half horizontally to create top and bottom buns.
- Lay croissant halves open. Place a layer of ham and a generous amount of shredded cheddar on the bottom half. Add optional ingredients like onions or mustard if desired.
- Top with the croissant lid and gently press down to seal.
- Melt butter in a small bowl. Brush the tops of the sandwiches generously with melted butter.
- Sprinkle with garlic powder and everything bagel seasoning.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through, until tops are golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Let cool for 2-3 minutes before serving to allow cheese to set.
Notes
For best results, shred your own cheese as pre-shredded cheese contains anti-caking agents that prevent smooth melting. If using wet ingredients like pickles or fresh tomatoes, place them between the cheese and bread to create a moisture barrier. These can be assembled and frozen unbaked for later use.
